The best ecommerce Wix apps for a new site are few: Proofy Reviews first, one chat path second, and Speed Booster only after you can measure a real product URL. Everything else waits until traffic and questions prove the gap.
This is an install order, not a shopping spree. Broader shortlists: best Wix apps, best free Wix apps, best Wix marketing apps.
Day-one stack
| Phase | App | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Week 1 | Proofy Reviews (free) | Social proof before paid traffic spends |
| Week 2 | WhatsApp Button or Chatz or Live Chat and AI Chatbot | One staffed or KB-backed answer path |
| Week 3+ | Speed Booster - Load Faster | Only if measured script delay remains after cleanup |
| Later | SMS / LinkedIn / Maps buttons | Only when that channel is a real sales path |
Week 1: Proofy
New stores often launch with empty proof. Proofy is free and built for product reviews. Start narrow:
- Install from the Proofy App Market listing
- Enable product-detail rating and product all-reviews on product templates
- Turn on email review requests after fulfilled (safer for quality) or paid if your fulfillment is fast
- Import old reviews if you migrated from Etsy, AliExpress, Amazon, or CSV
- Skip the floating badge and carousels until you have enough reviews to display
Proofy does not import Google Business reviews and does not paint SERP stars. Do not plan the launch around those. Guides: add product reviews on Wix, Wix review app.
Week 2: One chat path
Pick one primary path based on how you sell:
- Staffed WhatsApp as the culture: WhatsApp Button: Ichonic (from about US$1.00/mo). Agent cards and online schedules. Guide: Wix WhatsApp button.
- Several channels from one widget: Chatz. Guide: Chatz for Wix.
- Repeat written FAQs and thin staffing: Live Chat and AI Chatbot with PDF/CSV/TXT uploads and Gemini. Guides: best AI chatbot for Wix, chatbot product questions.
Important
Do not install WhatsApp Button, Chatz, and the AI chatbot launcher together in week two. One primary path. Add a second channel only after reply quality is stable.
Week 3+: Speed only if needed
New sites often feel slow because of oversized images and test apps, not because they lack a speed product. Follow Wix site speed test and why is my Wix store slow. If third-party scripts still delay interaction after cleanup, consider Speed Booster - Load Faster (from about US$3.30/mo; listing 4.0 from 15 reviews at last publish).
Speed Booster defers non-whitelisted scripts and CSS until delay or first interaction. It does not fix unused apps you refuse to remove. External reference: Core Web Vitals.
What to skip at launch
- Seasonal effect widgets and decorative animations
- Multiple review apps
- Unstaffed chat buttons
- AI chat with empty knowledge files
- Every Proofy widget enabled at once
- Apps in categories we do not sell (do not invent substitutes)
Exact setup checklist
- Finish product photos, shipping policy, and return policy before heavy app installs.
- Install Proofy. Two widgets. Review emails on.
- Choose one chat path and assign an owner for replies or KB updates.
- Test mobile product page: Add to Cart must stay clear of floating buttons.
- Run a speed test on one hero product URL. Remove unused apps first.
- Add Speed Booster only if the test still points at third-party script delay.
- Revisit SMS, LinkedIn, or Maps buttons after the first sales channel works.
New-site mistakes
- Installing the entire App Market favorites list before the first sale
- Turning on AI voice (Vapi) before text chat is accurate
- Using a personal WhatsApp number that rotates staff weekly
- Ignoring mobile placement until ads go live
- Expecting reviews without sending review-request emails
Metrics for the first 30 days
- Orders and conversion rate
- Reviews collected
- Chat or WhatsApp reply time
- Escalation rate if AI chat is on
- Mobile LCP on the top product URL
When not to install yet
- Products, prices, or shipping are unfinished
- Nobody can answer chat this week
- You have zero traffic and are optimizing for vanity widgets
- You want tools we do not sell (popups, Instagram feeds) as a substitute for a clear offer

Finish store basics before apps
Apps cannot fix missing size charts, blurry photos, or blank shipping pages. Before week-one installs, publish: clear product titles, at least a few usable images per SKU, shipping and returns pages, and a payment method that works in a test order. Then Proofy has something worth reviewing and chat has policies to point at.
- If AI chat is in the plan, draft PDF/TXT policies in week one even if the bot waits until week two
- If WhatsApp is the culture, pick the business number before the button goes live
- If you will buy ads in week three, run a speed test on that landing URL in week two
Migrating reviews into a new store
New Wix stores that moved from Etsy, AliExpress, Amazon, or another platform should import existing reviews into Proofy early. Empty stars under paid traffic waste money. Proofy supports generic CSV, Etsy CSV/JSON, AliExpress by product ID, and Amazon via browser extension. Map imports to the correct Wix products before you celebrate the migration.
Still not available: Google Business import into Proofy, and review stars in Google SERPs. Plan those as separate projects if you need them.
30-day app plan
- Days 1-3: store basics + Proofy two widgets + review emails.
- Days 4-10: import reviews if available; collect first organic reviews.
- Days 11-17: one chat path live with an owner.
- Days 18-24: speed test on top product URL; remove unused test apps.
- Days 25-30: Speed Booster only if scripts still delay; otherwise stop adding widgets.
If FAQ volume explodes early, pull AI chat forward, but only with files ready. Guide: chatbot product questions. If humans are faster than documents, pull WhatsApp forward instead.
Set support hours before chat goes live
A new store that publishes a WhatsApp or Chatz launcher with nobody on the schedule creates distrust faster than having no button. Write store hours into the widget copy. If you only answer weekdays 10-6, say so. If AI chat is your path, say what the bot can answer and how escalations work.
- Assign a named owner for WhatsApp or escalations before install day
- Use Chatz schedules or WhatsApp Button online schedules to match reality
- Turn channels off during holidays if coverage disappears
- Do not enable SMS, Messenger, and WhatsApp together until reply quality is proven on one channel
When FAQ documents are ready and humans are scarce, AI chat is the better week-two choice. When humans are available and products need negotiation, WhatsApp wins. Details: best AI chatbot for Wix, Wix WhatsApp button.
